Introduction
Chabad of Longmont responded to the Flash-Flooding with immediate rescue and relief efforts. Now, Chabad of Longmont is shifting the focus of its efforts to the mid- and long-term needs of the survivors and their communities.
While the major aide organizations concentrate primarily on rebuilding infrastructure and housing, other critical needs of the survivor community remain unaddressed. Among these unmet needs are the replacement of destroyed property for those whose homes were destroyed. The biggest challenges for the region in the long-term will be coping with extended stays in provisional housing and economic recovery.
The principle mid- and long-goals of the efforts of Chabad of Longmont will be to:
- Improve the living conditions and daily lives of those effected by the flooding
- Support the on-going relief efforts of effective volunteer organizations.
- Assist in the economic recovery of individuals and communities
- Establish a mechanism for responding to future emergencies as they arise.
